1942
Ted Carbery set up a thriving business in Mountmellick Co. Laois in the heart of Ireland with two leather workshops one serving his wholesale customers with Bags, Belts and Wallets, the other serving the local community with essential repairs to everything or anything the community would ask him to repair.
He built a reputation as a very skilled and talented craftsman in the Emerald Isle. Since 1942 Ted Carbery’s bags
and accessories have shared in the stories of families the length and breath of Ireland.
1956
Ted lost the use of his right-hand side, was left speechless and he lost his memory. Ted’s road to recovery lasted 3 years and for the rest of his life he continued creating leather pieces using his mouth and left hand whilst supporting a family of 11 children and serving his community whilst continuously smiling.
2015
Kasia and Ted’s grandson, Brendan discovered the story of Ted from family members and in his diary in
which Ted’s documented every step of his recovery and how to make leather bags and accessories. The patiently studied Ted’s work, noting key features and details that they have include in the My Name is TED designs (picture of the diary)
2016
Inspired by Ted’s incredible story of survival and creativity, My Name is TED brand was born with a range of Men’s bags & accessories that adopt to your lifestyle, with extra functionality that you wouldn’t typically associate with luxury bags & accessories.
We combine uncompromising luxury standards and ultimate practicality in everything we create. (Picture of briefcases old & new)
2019
My Name is TED launched the first women’s collection “The Door Bag Collection” inspired by Georgian
Doors of Ireland.
2020
MNIT secured their first major luxury retail listing in Brown Thomas Grafton Street and have since expanded their retail footprint from New York to Singapore.
2022
Today - Kasia and Brendan continue the family heritage and tradition today in their purpose built studio in Mullingar Ireland, the My Name is TED team and success is growing but mission remains un changed, creating timeless functional designs that are handcrafted to last for generations for customers to share from one family member to the next. My Name is TED ultimate goal is to become a household name around the world, recognized for their uncompromising standards, innovative products Inspired by Life
